Brake Piston Assembly Machine

Description:
The machine performs the assembly of an automotive brake piston, consisting of three components: two rubber boots and a metal body. The machine is capable of handling up to 20 different product variants without manual retooling.

Metal components are loaded into the machine inside a bulk container. The machine automatically tilts the container and transfers the parts onto a vibrating feeder, from which they are picked by SCARA robots equipped with vision systems. The rubber boots are also fed via vibrating feeders.

Parts are transferred between stations using SCARA robots and two rotary tables. Assembly consists of positioning and press-fitting the rubber boots onto the metal body.

In addition to the vision systems installed on each robot for optimized picking, a final vision inspection system verifies the correct assembly of the piston.
